I am a Physics and Chemistry Teacher at Parkside
Collegiate in St. Thomas. This is my 35th year of teaching
(32 years at Parkside and 3 before that in Strathroy). I
started measuring in 1982 and have measured and or validated
                      many races including the 1996
Olympic Marathon and Racewalk courses in Atlanta, validated
                      the marathon and
racewalk courses of the IAAF World Championships in Edmonton
(2001), validated the marathon at the Commonwealth Games
in Winnipeg (2000). In 1999 I was appointed Chief Certifier
for Canada by Athletics Canada/Run Canada. In 2003 I was
appointed International Measurement Administrator of the
Americas for the IAAF and AIMS. Many of the races, especially
in this area of Ontario, have been measured by me including
the London Forest City Road Races (2.5, 5, & 10 km,
half-marathon and marathon) which starts and finishes in
the Price-Waterhouse Stadium at UWO (on Mother's Day).
I will describe how the measurements of these
distances are carried out and the rules that must be followed.
