Jean and
Dave
Surry
The speakers have spent their working careers
as engineers, after studying Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
(Jean) and Engineering Physics (Dave). Both were trained
as aeronautical research engineers with a drive to solve
real-world problems by understanding "how things work",
ie the physics of the problems. Jean has spent her career
largely in industry, in aeronautics and hydroacoustics with
diversions into traffiic, industrial safety and community
volunteering. Dave has spent his career bridging academic
teaching and research with industrial applications of wind
engineering at Western's Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel Laboratory.
In the talk, we'll expand upon interesting
problems that have arisen over the course of these two careers.
