A team of physics teachers has developed concept surveys addressing the five Physics 3U units and . modeling the well-known Force Concept Inventory. Their multiple-choice questions are carefully constructed to measure conceptual understanding and capture student preconceptions. They can be applied in a pre-post format to compare student conceptual gains under different forms of instructional strategies. Current field-testing, and statistical analysis on results for each test item, is leading to substantial revisions that will be ready for September, 2004. This brief presentation will share some survey items, discuss the process and field-testing results, and entertain questions.
