Rolly Meisel Rolly taught physics and mathematics in the Niagara area for 28 years. He finished his career as head of mathematics at Ridgeway Crystal Beach High School in Ridgeway, Ontario. After retiring from the classroom in June of 2001, he spends his time contributing to mathematics textbooks for McGraw-Hill Ryerson, and pursuing his many hobbies, including flying, traveling, scuba diving, playing the piano, and building his own airport. He has co-authored the OAPT physics contest with Vida Ghaem-Maghami for the past three years, and remains a strong supporter of OAPT. Paul Passafiume Paul Passafiume has been a physics teacher
at Markville Secondary School for the past five years. Prior to this, he worked
in the field of engineering. He enjoys bringing this experience into the classroom
so that students can appreciate the harmony between the practical and the theoretical.
Outside of class, Paul enjoys travelling, snowboarding, and motocross." Interactive
Physics 2000 is a software package that allows users to build virtual models of
complex mechanical systems. This workshop will be presented in a hands-on,
self-paced tutorial fashion. No previous experience with IP 2004 is assumed. However,
those with some knowledge of IP 2000 may easily skip past the introductory concepts
to more involved examples. The focus will be on using IP 2000 in the grade 11
and 12 Ontario physics curriculum, although topics are general enough to be applied
to any introductory physics course. The workshop will take
place in one of the computer laboratories equipped with thirty networked PC's.
