Bill
spent 34 years as a secondary school teacher in Kent County, most of them as a
physics teacher and Head of Science. He was active in both the Science Teachers'
Association of Ontario (President 1972 - 73) and the Ontario Association of Physics
Teachers (President 1987 - 88, Section rep 1990 - 93). He received an OAPT life
membership award in 1998. During his teaching career Bill was a member of the
author team that produced Fundamentals of Physics, An Introductory Course and
acted as the writer for a number of programs in TV Ontario's Concepts in Science
series. After retiring from the classroom in June of 1998 Bill's interest in computer
probeware and software resulted in part-time position with Merlan Scientific,
demonstrating probeware and training teachers in its use as a classroom tool.
The freedom that comes with retirement also allowed him to spend more time travelling
with his wife, Marlene, and playing with his four grandchildren. |
