WORLD OF WONDERS - SPECIAL RELATIVITY

Einstein's special theory of relativity is indeed a "World of Wonders," with time dilation, length contraction, relativity of simultaneity, etc. Special relativity is exciting to teach, and the students find it stimulating and mind-expanding. However, there are a number of pitfalls into which the unwary student and teacher can fall. This presentation will discuss the teaching of special relativity with an emphasis on avoiding the pitfalls.
