Hands
On Activities with Probes and Probeware
This
workshop is designed to give participants the opportunity to try out the latest
Pasco probeware technology for physics in a "hands on" mode. Participants
will work through tutorials to see how the motion sensor can give, not only position,
velocity, and acceleration information, but also show momentum, kinetic energy,
gravitational potential energy, and total mechanical energy as a function of time.
There will be an opportunity to see first hand some of the latest physics applications
such as the power amplifier for the GLX Xplorer, the ocean optics spectrometer,
and the latest interface from Pasco - the "Spark"
Biography | |||
I was active in OAPT for a
number of years, serving on the executive in the late 1980's and early 1990's.
I am currently a life member of OAPT. I retired from teaching in 1998 and since
that time have conducted Pasco probeware training sessions across Canada and the
US. I currently conduct these sessions for Pasco Canada in Canada, VWR Scientific
in the US, and Pasco US in the US. When I retired from teaching I had seven probeware
workstations in my physics lab and found them to be a powerful teaching tool.
I firmly believe that if used correctly probeware is a great tool for helping
students understand fundamental concepts in physics and to ask and try to answer
a lot of "what if" questions. |
