Dr. Christine Wilson |
Beyond the Visible Universe |
Have you ever wondered what lies beyond the "visible" universe? What stars and galaxies look like when viewed in ultraviolet light or in infrared light? This talk will explore galaxies in our universe as you can never see them with the naked eye, including images from new ultraviolet and infrared space-based telescopes, and what they are telling us about how stars are formed inside galaxies. |
Christine Wilson is a Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at McMaster University. She is an observational astronomer who has made important contributions to our understanding of how stars form in both our own Milky Way and other nearby galaxies. She is also in demand as a public speaker and most recently has given a series of talks as a "Galileo Lecturer" in 2009 during the International Year of Astronomy. |
