YouTube videos are a great source of rich context problems. Participants will use whiteboards and YouTube videos to analyze a variety of rich context problems. Youtube videos invite critical thinking. Participants will work in groups in order to determine if a particular video is “real” or “fake”. Videos of demonstrations that cannot be done in the classroom are ideally suited to POEOEs ( predict observe explain observe explain). If time permits participants will use video analysis to obtain meaningful data from YouTube videos. Participants will receive a DVD with about 400 videos organized by concept. |
I have been teaching physics for 23 years. I have always found that students learn better when the problems are real world. I have been using YouTube videos for several years and have found they lead to both increased student engagement and learning |
