What medical applications using physics concepts have an impact on our health care?
How can understanding physics support a career in animation?
STSE (science-technology-society-environment) expectations provide a context for STEM
in science classrooms. This session will use STSE-related resources and demonstrate how
they can be used to support the development of cross-curricular critical thinking skills
that are integral to the interdisciplinary nature of STEM. These resources, that address
questions like those posed above, are accessible for free at CurioCity
(explorecuriocity.org). Developed by Let’s Talk Science, CurioCity is an online
place for Grades 8-12 students and teachers. It supports learning through engaging
resources that:
• relate science, engineering and technology to society and the environment
• provide relevant and accurate information related to science curriculum requirements
across Canada
• provide interesting real-world contexts to illustrate the relevance of science,
technology and math.
Access to educator resources is through free registration at www.explorecuriocity.org.
Participants are encouraged to register either before or at the session to work with
the resources that will be discussed at this session.
